So I've booked my plane tickets to California for the weekend of the 2014 Long Beach Grand Prix. Now I just gotta figure out my hotel accommodations and more importantly my transportation options. It sucks I'm only 24 so most companies won't rent me a car so guess I gotta plan accordingly to use public transit to get around. Not ideal but still very excited!!!

You can totally rent a car, you just get charged more. Trust me, I'm 22

Ehh don't know if "charged more" fits into the budget I got planned. I know public transit in Southern Cali is pretty bad but I'm willing to tough it out if it means buying better seats for the race.

I rented a car when I was 24 and it was only 10 dollars more per day. Or you could bring a friend who is over 25.

Hertz will rent you a car it's just a little more expensive due to higher level insurance.

Yea just checked and it's not as bad as I imagined. Hadn't bothered to check before as I had written it off as too expensive or not possible due to age.

good times ahead.
i've only been going for the last couple of years but as soon as the last race ends on Sunday i'm already looking forward to the next year. what area are you looking to book a hotel in? Long Beach?
top tip: not sure if you also got your tickets already but i've purchased discount tickets to the race on Goldstar the last couple of times. here's last year's offer page. they usually start selling them the month before so keep your eyes open.
here's a couple of pics i took at this year's race:
"hairdresser's car"...
typical LA traffic...

Those are some great pics. I gotta say I'm more excited to see the sportscars than the indycars at the race. I have family in the Whittier area I could stay with so I might try to make that work even it's a bit always from the circuit. I haven't bought tickets yet so I'll definitely have a look.
